Brú Columbanus

Brú Columbanus is an independent charity that provides “home from home” accommodation for relatives of seriously ill patients in any of the Cork Hospitals and the Hospice.

The name Brú comes from the Irish for hostel. It was established in 2005 under the auspices of the Knights of Columbanus from whom the name is derived, and together with the Department of Health, the HSE, Cork City Council and Voluntary Contributions funded the €5.5 million cost of the project. Families are accommodated in the house free of charge in a safe, warm, welcoming, caring environment and can relax and feel at home with other families.

Parking

Visitors Parking

Visitor car parking is available at Perrott’s Inch and Perrott Avenue car parks (hourly charge) and at Brookfield Health Science Complex (pay & display).

Visitors who are unable to obtain parking on the campus are requested to pay due regard to the access needs of the residents in the area surrounding the campus. Most of the on-street parking in this area is controlled by prepaid disc parking. Pay parking is available at Perrott Avenue, Perrott’s Inch and Brookfield car parks.

Buses

City buses: from the city centre, board a No. 8 (marked ‘Bishopstown’, about every 15 minutes) and ask to get off at Gaol Cross. Or board a No. 5 (marked ‘Rossa Avenue’), and ask to get off at College Road .

UCC Quad

For the past number of years UCC have hosted this hugely popular series of concerts featuring some of Irelands finest musicians giving their time and talent to amaze the Crk public. This year is no exception with one of Ireland’s own Brian Kennedy singing for us. Besides Brian we have the entertaining Garda band both providing backing music and an entertaining repertoire of their own classic tunes to entertain the crowds.

For those who have not attended a concert on UCC’s quad it is genuinely a special occasion withg fabolous acoustics from the stage in the shadow of the ancient walls of the Aula Maxima and the Boole Library.
